Hi, I’m confused rn because as I read college acceptances posts, people who got accepted have like 4.5 weighted gpa or higher. Is that from a 4.0 scale or from a 5.0 scale? My cumulative average is a 91.33 out of a 100 and I want to know what is that out of 5.0. Thanks!
First you assign all your classes as an A or B (I’m not going to use plus or minus for simplicity and the fact that not all high schools use it). For each year or high school, count your A’s and B’s. Each A is 4 points and B is 3 points (unless the class is weighted then it is one point heigher). Next you add all your points up for each year and divide it by the number of classes, I should note only academic classes. No PE or art class and the like. After you do it for each year you average them. To get your total GPA so far. Hope this helps!
Right now my Hs is on a 5.0 scale and u can only achieve 5.0 from ap classes I currently have a 94 100 point scale gpa and my grades are like a 86 average but somehow I have a 3.33 weighted on the 5.0 scale my teachers gave I mean a 94 on a 4 point scale is like a 3.78 how is my weighted on the 5.0 scale lower than my 4.0
5.0 scales are usually due to weighting, but weighting may differ at each high school, so any high school weighted GPA is only relevant within that high school.
