call rpi first before you panic or leave it out of your considerations, its not hard to ask what the deal is, they are very friendly, im sure they have hundreds of other kids with the same or more questions

My daughter also had no merit aid mentioned on her acceptance but we know already that she is a Rensselaer Medal Award recipient and has $15k per year.

There's something odd on her file. When she goes to each tab it says: Log Off her name except the Enrollment forms tab which shows Log Off (another student's name). It doesn't look as if there is any other student's personal information except the name in the right hand corner.

I am also hoping that other accepted students can help to shed light on this. D situation is an accepted student who did not apply for financial aid. With her RPI acceptance letter, there are not any other links. For comparison, WPI has also accepted D with a $22,000/year presidential scholarship so her profile is relatively strong.

My initial thought was that maybe those who's merit was not part of a complex FA package didn't receive their notification at this time. I have seen posts which could confirm this position:

My daughter was accepted and we liked the music. We didn't have any second letter which was odd because we already know that she is a Rensselaer Medal Finalist (merit award) at her high school and has at least 15k per year.

and those that conflict with this position:

Accepted! Yea, your financial aid award is online. At the bottom of the acceptance letter, it says:

"Multiple letters are on file for this account:

March 14, 2009 (displayed)
March 14, 2009 " <-There will be a hyperlink with that.

Click on the 2nd one, and it takes you to a scanned version of your Financial Aid award, and the financial award is there from the Rensselaer Financial Aid Office.

Ps. Waitlists- Hang on there!

smoda61- I did not apply for any financial aid. The only thing that was there was a merit based award. It was a formal letter which stated my award. Glad I could help!

I am hoping to get further input from other acceptees.

We cannot even log into the site. Any help with the log in process? We think there may be a glitch because it says there is no application yet on the upper right it has our D's name to log out...

Enrollment form page: yes, like you G. M.
Living Page: J. Z.
Learning Page: S. D.
Orientation page: S. D (same as previous)
Health: M. N.
Tuition: M. Z.
Computing: J. Z (same as living)
Transcript: S. D ( same as learning and orientation)

Smoda61 -- I just went to edit last post and somehow deleted it...that is odd with the other name connections. I'll check my daughter's. I thought she said it was just one tab that was wrong but I'll check.

In the RPI admitted student site, under "for admissions officers" there is a thread referring to this problem called "Acceptance Site". The G.M. initials are referred to there also. I just added a comment regarding D's situation.

smoda61 --- Just checked those links...all accessed through enrollment page. Same names here. I don't think I'd like it if my name were on someone else's page.

Anyone who does have their merit/financial link attached like I did, please click on the second page and tell me if that number above my name is supposed to be my social sec number, because if it is, that's not my #......... but better still be my merit (right name, though)

Well the name are all names that you could probably see on the "facebook" link. At least there does not appear to be any private information, other than name, disclosed. It still is poor form though. Especially for a tech school.

Did people who got merit awards use RPI's application or the common app? My s used common app but I remember the Candidates choice app said something about receiving financial awards with admissions decision.
