I was accepted to Pitt a long time ago and I will not be attending. The lack of any Merit is a factor for sure even after being my top choice at the time. , Do I let them know now or just dismiss it altogether since they will know after May 1st that I will not be attending… I was able to do this at another school portal, but I felt it was necessary since this other school had offered me a nice scholarship and I wanted to say thank you and release the funds in case they have the ability to allocate them to another student.
It would be courteous to decline admission on the portal, with or without a scholar ship. It should only take a couple of minutes.
Once we were certain, we let the schools know. We were well aware that our second and third and fourth and fifth choices were some other student’s dream schools, and the sooner multiple students tell the schools that they are not coming the sooner some very nervous kid somewhere is going to get very good news. I understand that schools overbook knowing that some students will go elsewhere, but we figured that if everyone does the same the schools will know sooner that they have a few empty slots to fill.
I am not sure whether schools “overbook” on the scholarships, so letting this go will probably make some kid’s day (if not make their entire year).
I did not see an option on the portal… Maybe I missed it
You can just contact the admissions department directly.
