do they look at previous jobs while considering you for the afa

I believe that would be something the ALO would be interested in.

Does anyone know what would be a good job I get that would look good

Dude, don't worry about it. They just want to know if you're a hardworking, productive person. But don't worry if you don't have a job. I didn't and just told them honestly that church, school, and extracurricular activities have been my full time job in high school

I agree... Don't try to do something just because you want it on your resume. If you can't get a job don't worry about it, if you can thats awesome. But I also think that community service is looked upon more highly than a paying job, because of the self-sacrifice that is required for nothing more than the knowledge of helping someone that may not even know your name.

yea im just asking questions trying to find things that look good cause i wanna get in I was planning on getting a job anyway but I was wondering what would look good but I'll get on some community service

I had to get a job when I turned 16 in-order to drive and pay for the expenses. It turned out for the better in my case because I ended up becoming a "Team Trainer" My ALO along with my interview for my nomination both were helped by my job because of the leadership I possessed. I would say if you do not need a job, do not bother, but if you get one try to work your way up to a better and more significant position.

I worked at a 50s restaurant and wore a poodle skirt and roller skates and made milkshakes for 3 years in high school. Believe me, the Academy doesn't care. Do what you want. :)

alright I need to get one cause I'm about to start driving in a week or so but I'll keep that in mind

i did something that combined athetics with employment, lifeguarding :)

what kind of jobs are available to a cadet after they graduate the afa

Check out the academy website: Air Force Academy -

And also the Air Force website: U.S. Air Force - Officer Careers - Dozens Of Ways To Lead

They'll give a really good idea, and they're organized into sections so you can look at what interests you.

What were some things that set you apart when applying for the air force academy

SempurExcelsius Pomona or Standley Lake? I went to Pomona many years ago. Second class to spend all four years there.

ds52262: Well I don't go to either unfortunatly... I'm actually out of their district and my school district didn't want me going out of my current district (a district curretly under academic-probation because of low scores and low attendance). So I currently go to Westminster high school (better known as Westy)... Not sure if you've heard of it :)

I do remember it. East of Sheridan, North of 80th right. Well you have done good for yourself. At least you wont have far to travel on Parents Weekend, and the rest of the holidays.

Actually south of 80th but yes, thats the area :) and yes, hoping I get in, it will definently be a short drive back and forth... Not good for getting away from the parents for college but I'm sure I'll appreciate it ;)

Being close to parents and friends is a good thing, trust me! If I want to see my parents or friends, it costs me $300+ in airfare, and a half-days worth of flying.
