How do I receive an *outstanding* letter of rec?

So I'm a freshman and already have plans to transfer out after my sophomore year. I was more of the quiet and passive student in high school, but I definitely would like to change that now because I want an outstanding letter of rec from my instructors for when I transfer. By outstanding, I mean that an instructor would be more than happy to go out of their way to write a great letter of rec just because s/he enjoyed me in their class so much.

It can be tough gaining personal attention at a larger university, but I'm normally out there at office hours asking questions and such. The thing is, I don't think that's nearly enough. What can I do to truly stand out from the crowd?

Advice would be very much appreciated!

Check the thread I started several weeks ago and it might be helpful.(although my question was nasty and dumb) ;)
