Ok so one of the scholarship checks I recieved is directly payable to the school. I know where to send the scholarship, but do I have to detach the invoice that is attached to the check? I am not supposed to endorse on the back of the check right? Is there any information (like social security # or student ID #) I have to write on the check/invoice? Does UCLA send me a receipt or something to notify that they received the check? And when can I expect the scholarship amount to be posted on my BAR account? Thanks, please help me if you have mailed in checks before.

I tried calling and left couple emails, but I have yet to receive a response.

uh, it’s best to wait for a reply from FAO and the scholarship organization to know what they want you to do. why risk doing something stupid by following someone’s instruction who is not from those offices?

Because a person who has successfully sent in scholarship checks before would probably have a good inclination of how to correctly go about the process.

probably :rolleyes:

Well it’s been over a week since I sent my emails. They never answer the phone although I call during their office hours.

And I asked it here because I vaguely recall a thread about scholarship checks here couple weeks ago. I couldn’t find that thread though. In any case, if the CC members who posted on the thread know more about this than I do, they can help me.

CC never fails to surprise me with obscure and good-to-know information, I am sure someone here have sent in mail-in checks before and can tell me what to do. I’ve ran out of options.

Call fao.

On the fao site, they have 3 different addresses for checks.

Payable to “Regents of UC”
In notes section, write student ID number

Then they will give you the address… something in murphy hall and should say attn Joletta Yun (or something like that)

So where do you call to ask about this problem?

FAO = Financial Aid Office

Call UCLA Fin Aid (A simple google search will get you the number) and ask… don’t worry… expect to have at least a few scholarships not reach the proper place and have to go through hell just to get them in.

I ran into the same problem, but luckily for me I called and got someone to help me. The lady from the financial aid office told me that I had two options. (1) Hand the check in directly to the people at the financial aid office (I believe that’s in Murphy Hall A129J, could be wrong about the room number), either now or when you school starts or (2) mail it in to the financial aid office at:

Personally, I’m just going to hand it in when school starts. That way I know it gets there safe and sound.
