How do I talk to a teacher about a grade?

<p>I recently got my grade report and noticed that I have a grade that's keeping me off the honor role. Plus, the one grade that's keeping me off is my music theory class. I actually already talked to my teacher about it and he said he would bump up my average because I practiced and showed him my late assignments. The thing is though, that bump isn't reflected in my report. </p>

<p>He is a nice teacher, but when it comes to grades he can get a little sensitive. I want to say something, but I don't know how to do in a way so that it doesn't seem like I'm being picky with numbers. What should I do?</p>

<p>You have to think of your priorities, what is more important? Your grades? Or avoiding a potentially awkward conversation with your teacher? Just go to him and say “Hey listen, you said you’d bump up my average, but I don’t see any change on my report card.” and see what he has to say.</p>
