How do i tell my teacher i changed my mind about taking the ap exam.?!

I have taken Calculus with Analytic Geometry 1 and 2 this year at my high school through the local community college. Although I have a strong A 98 in the class (Calc 2) and I got a 100 in calc1 (but 92 on the exam), I feel like I haven't fully learned the material as well as I would like. Earlier in the year, our teacher asked if anyone wanted to take the ap exam bc I said yes because I was going to use it to determine whether to retake calc in college. Now I know that I will retake calc 1 and 2 in college to strengthen my foundation in calc. How do I tell my teacher that I don't want to tale it anymore.? (Also I don't feel like I'd do well on it) my high school pays for the ap exams but I believe there's a fee if you tell the teacher you will take it but then decide not to. Help!

You can opt-out of taking the exam anytime between now and the day of the test. If you do this, it will only cost you $13 instead of $89.

you probably should have put this i the High School Life forum.

just opt out. I don’t think that it’s necessary to even tell you teacher. if you feel that bad about it, just mention it to him/her. it’s really not a big deal

If there’s no cost to you for taking the exam, and no refund to you for not taking the exam, then why not take the exam? If you score poorly, no university will look down on you for it. If you score well, you can choose whether or not you want to accept the score or retake calculus later on.

In short … taking the exam gives you more options down the road.
