I think that's it. Stanford in my #1. I want to major in engineering but maintain some involvement in Stanford community in literature.
Thanks again!

Oh and I won 2 events on my own in UMaryland chemathon and my tram finished first place.
I also left out we got states for siemens enviro challenge

This thread makes me depressed T_T

I know someone who got accepted into 5 Ivies, and he didn’t have half of the stuff you have.

I have like…10% of what you have as EC.
If those are your real EC, you’ll have a really good shot (depending on your test/GPA/rigor stats)

Here’s the thing though… I’m Asian (Indian). I’m insecure for that very reason.

Stanford uses the Common Application. There’s a space where you can talk about your ECs. You can talk about that one. You also tell them in the additional info area, I suppose. I think they also want you to describe your ECs a little.

Thanks!

Any other thoughts?

Aren’t you just going to be starting your sophomore year? Have you actually done these things or are you just planning to do it all…?

Hah!
Where from, Blair?
Or maybe Wooton or WJ?
I like the EC’s; on a scale of 10, they are a 7-8ish, but only because you’re Indian. It would be more impressive if you were an URM, but whatever I’m Indian too.

I will be a senior next year, but this is a family account, so you may have seen my younger brother/cousin (we live together, my parents have posted occasionally as well) post and be confused by that. We have a stepbrother in college but the deal with him was that he was an international applicant from India but had a crapload of EC’s also and required no financial aid. Plus he was a genius and I mean that. I want to know where I stand because my older brother and I are very different people who are applying from very different situations. As for my HS, I’d rather not say on the internet, but I will tell you I live in Montgomery County.

"Created a charity I’m indeed very passionate about (question: how do I make it seem I didn’t just do it for college?) "

If you didn’t just do it for college, it’ll come out when you write about it. If you’re truly passionate about it, you’ll write one of your essays on it.

Your ECs sound good, but be careful they don’t look like a laundry list with no meaning to them. Stanford wants to see that you’ve made an impact on your school, community, organization, etc. with your ECs.

Haven’t I? I mean… What haven’t I done in stem-related fields to profess my love for engineering and literature?

This. This. This.

Jack of all trades; master of none. A lot of those are the stereotypical “wow” achievements that were just done because you felt the need to do them, not because of dedication. What is your planned major? I’d say it is something related to either writing, math, or science, but I can’t assume any further because you are all over the place.

You guys are nuts. I’ve never seen anyone on CC with better ECs than this kid. He’s got more focus than the rest of us. OP, you’ll do great in the admissions process. You’re a standout applicant in my opinion with A LOT of focus.

“Jack of all trades; master of none.”

Master of none? Wow. I wonder what your EC’s look like. He doesn’t have a ridiculously long laundry list, and his accomplishments are quite impressive. The last time I looked, I thought that being VERY TALENTED in more than one subject area was a good thing.

Are people in the real world really as vicious as CC boards? It’s important for all of us to remember that we’re trying to help people on these chance threads, not cut them down without offering constructive criticism.

TASP+USAPhO is almost a guarantee alone…

Thanks guys, SOME of your comments are really very uplifting, LOL. I think my accomplishments in USAPHO and USNCO (just realized I never posted that, semifinalist) show an interest in engineering, as does my AIME qualification. To be honest, I should concede I don’t like chemistry and I just participated in those competitions for college. I do like physics and math though. Thanks again, keep commenting, I would like to hear more opinions. ;)
