How do they apply Scholarships and Bright Futures funds to students accounts?

-sorry if this post is in the wrong place--I'm a newbie.

My son got a Pegasus Scholarship and will be receiving Bright Futures. (14Fall-entry) Does anyone know if they would apply both to his account, and if he would receive the remainder of the funds (or it would go toward his housing?)
I'm just curious if the scholarship is ONLY for Tuition, and he wouldn't be able to use it for other things.

Thanks in advance for any info!

This I am not sure about…I know my son always gets his “cash” refund from his Bright Futures money. He doesnt have any other scholarships, but they apply his loans first then Bright Futures (which makes no sense to me)

I am entering Fall of 2014 also. Even though I have qualified for 100% Bright Futures, I have been repeatedly told it does not cover 100% of tuition anymore. I also have a Pegasus scholarship. I have been told once they apply Bright Futures towards your tuition that then your Pegasus scholarship is applied to any remainder and then the rest of the Pegasus go can go towards housing, etc…I do not believe I will get any loans or any other type of aid.

Thank you for your responses!
I was told that any remainder could go toward “any” money owed: housing, or otherwise.
Thank again!
