<p>I think that's going to depend on the specific test curve. You can look at the approximate score curves at the back of each test in the Official SAT Study Guide, but it's only an approximation.</p>

<p>The importance of the essay on your composite score depends on how well you did on the multiple choice section. It's worth <em>approximately</em> 30% of the composite writing score, so there's no way to say for sure that it's worth any specific number of multiple choice questions. It is almost definitely NOT worth exactly 12 multiple choice questions. Also, as I mentioned before, it depends on the specific test, since they're all curved differently.</p>
<p>If you get all the multiple choice questions but a 7 on the essay, you get a 750. That's what I got.</p>
