Erin’s Dad, I haven’t looked it up, but it could be that what he saw was weighted, and CDS is never weighted, if I’m not mistaking.

UNC-CH’s CDS looks to be weighted.
[Common Data Set - Office of Institutional Research and Assessment](http://oira.unc.edu/facts-and-figures/data-summaries-and-publications/common-data-set.html)

Erin’s Dad, on that same CDS that you linked to, below the percentile distribution of GPAs, it says the percent of GPAs above 3.75 is 58%, and right below that it says average GPA of admitted students: 3.9. And because the average reported GPA (3.9) it would suggest that the school averaged in SC WGPAs, which exceed 4.0. That could mean that other schools report their seemingly arbitrarily reported WGPAs, which wouldn’t accurately tell the GPA of admitted students.

I hope my explanation is making sense.

Hmm. Well, I never really looked at the CDS’s GPA’s and such, because you can find those a lot of places. I looked at all of the other things that interest me about schools. GPA, either way, does not really tell much about things, because it’s so wildly different everywhere, and you can’t place it in context of the school in a common data set.

Sorry IBT, I didn’t look down that far on the page. I would say that the average GPA shown is weighted while the data in section C11 is UW. That average GPA CANNOT be unweighted - the highest you can get to algebraically is 3.78 assuming each student pegged at the top score in each range. I know section C11 states out of a 4.0. Apparently the school didn’t use that same direction for C12.

Hey, could you guys chance me effectively now that I’ve put out all my credentials
