how do u get the housing?

i still don really understand how u sign up for which dorm u gonna live and such and such. can anyone explain this???
and which dorm would u say is good and reasonably priced?

I have the same doubt. Ive paid the 50 dollars for housing and the enrollment deposit and I havent got a housing contract yet.

You have to pay your 200 enrollment deposit first. After that in a few days a housing contract will be sent and you have about a week to get that signed and pay a 300 dollar deposit. Once that is sent and completed you go to your housing contract status online and pick your dorm preferences, private or public bath, and other indicators that you desire.

if you havent heard back from them yet even after you paid your enrollment deposit, emial them RIGHT AWAY, or you may not get a dorm at all. they will tell you your status and send you a contract(either regular or supplemental), then you do the rest...

Your only hope of living on campus now is probably going to be supplemental housing. Email them asap, otherwise your gonna get screwed. I emailed them two weeks ago asking about housing for transfers, and they basically told me recieving a two perosn dorm was unlikely...so, I'm stuck with supplemental housing.

I'm almost decided on UT but it has been a tough decision overall so I haven't enrolled yet. I did the housing app a while ago, but am I still screwed for housing? Should I plan to go to the private dorms?

You would get supplemental housing if you are gonna get ur housing contract now. It could be temporary or maybe not. If you dont mind living slightly off campus, then it might be a good idea to look into private dorms like Dobie, etc..

wat the **** is supplemental housing? is it four person room? mann then wat the **** was the point of putting double room preference on the online housing app and finishing that **** early? damnnn im so mad. and also it sucks to be waitlisted at somewhere else thats better than ut.

geez, someone's really mad.

if you applied early for the application (early would probably mean last year, i guess) and sent in your 50 bucks, you probably should have gotten your housing contract already.
IF you applied like after April(like I did, lol), you will get supplemental, but from what I've heard, it's not that bad.
1. rooms are bigger, it fits four beds and ppl don't need to bunk them.
2. Many people would rather stay in supplemental housing, they have more fun, become good friends, and so on.
3. you get a discount..lol
4. (this is my two cents) you probably have a less chance of being sexiled...I mean, come on, 3 people will have to suffer for it.
5. I did read somewhere that you get a chance to move into a double within or about a month or two...but not sure if that's a credible source.
6. maybe you could try the UT Profiler..if you aks for a roommate who has a regular contract, you might be able to get a double room. (I'm not so sure about this, probably need to ask housing, but I doubt that they will give a regular contract person a supplemental.)

anyway, don't feel so bad...you never know, it could add more to that fun college experience, lol=)

people with regular contracts arent able to room with someone with supp contracts...i already asked. We just have to wait until we get regular contracts too.

Sorry, I think I'm still a little confused. Is supplemental housing given based on when the housing app was turned in or when you enrolled in the school? I turned in the housing app in early March (still late, I know) but I turned in the enrollment deposit yesterday. Is it likely that I'll end up in supp. housing? Also, I haven't received the housing contract yet.... When should it become available? Does it come in the mail or is there something I can do online to fill it out? Thanks!

if you haven't received your contract yet, chances are that you'll get a supplemental. also, late march isn't early;)
as for the contract, you will receive it by mail; the only way you can get it online is when a fiasco happens, like with my situation (argh...if you want details PM me.)

if you want the supp contract, you better emial them right away, becuase they wont just automatically give it to you
