<p>I may end up at UT next year so I want good housing (honors quad if I get into Plan II and San Jacinto if not) and they say to submit housing app ASAP. So I'm good until here. Do I really have to pay $75 just to APPLY to housing?? And then another $300 for a deposit even though I might not attend?? When do I put down my preferences? Am I doing this right? Their website is soo vague. Thanks in advance.</p>
<p>yeah, that’s what you do if you want to make sure you get your housing preferences. Good luck with Plan II. My son has applied to P2 as well. </p>

<p>You will get to select your dorm preferences later. And you will be able to number your top several choices in order of preference. But I don’t remember if that happens when they issue the housing contract or later. I just know that it doesn’t happen yet, so you haven’t missed anything. The only selection they allow you to make at this time might be regarding a single or a shared space. Dorm requests come later.</p>
<p>As long as you cancel by a certain date, there is a refund or partial refund. The contract is received early and you pick preferences much later. The earlier you apply, the more likely you get your choice.</p>
