How do we check our decisions online?

I know for all my schools I recieved something in the mail giving me a user ID, password, and link to check my status. But I haven't gotten anything for Harvard...does anyone know what they do?

they'll send you an e-mail.

Should I have already recieved that email? Or should I send an email to the admissions office requesting the info?

You should have already received the email to check the status of your application. I got mine two weeks after I mailed the Common Application and Harvard Supplement (I mailed them off January 1st). The decisions, however, will be e-mailed to you--that is, if you put on your app that you wanted your decision by e-mail. Maybe you should give the admissions office a call. Hope this helps.

oh and btw. if you guys don't get an e-mail right away, there's another way to know if you're in or not. try to login onto the admitted students page with your id #. if you can you're in, but if you can't, well sorry. good luck!

dnamy,
What id#?
Only thing I have received was the access code.
Is that what you mean? Thank you.

Yes, if you use your last name and the access code to try to get into the admitted students website on or after March 29, and you can enter the site, then you have been admitted to Harvard. Personally, I would wait for the email though. If you don't get in, the admitted students website way of finding out can be a bit more heartwrenching. Also, you don't know when the admitted students site will be available for RD kids, so if you log-in before the time and think that you haven't been admitted, it's not worth the temporary devastation. Harvard emails for a reason. They spent a lot of time on your application, and they would appreciate it if you were able to be notified in a respectful way that fully accounts for the work they put into deliberating over your case.

I wish that when you opened the e-mail it would just say YES or NO in really large letters, because having to actually read a word might interfere from the energy my body is expending on maintaing my speed-of-light heart rate. Even though "Congratulations!" will probably be the first word...I don't know.

hmmm.... is anyone able to get into it now? the admitted students thing i mean

The only people that can access it right now are students who were admitted to Harvard's Class of 2011 under the Early Action program or those who deferred their admission from earlier admissions cycles to the Class of 2011.

j07, congrats isn't the first word. My friend admitted EA said to look for "delighted."

Yup..."I am delighted to inform you that the Committee on Admissions has admitted you to the Class of 2011"

Subject line: Your application to Harvard College.

Really makes your heart race when you click and wait for the message to load.

I can just imagine. Can't wait until the 29th. To be honest I've avoided the Harvard boards since I sent my application in December. I really didn't want to think about it. But now the time has come...

And I'm glad to hear they don't put any hint of the decision in the e-mail's subject line. lol

_david

Well, I kinda wished they did--save me the trouble from reading my rejection.
