What's the proper way to address your interviewer (if it's a she)?

"Ms." or "Dr." or "Rev." or "Rabbi" depending on whether you know what her profession is. If she wishes to be called by her first name, she'll let you know. It's always best to err on the side of formality.

Ma'am is safe. Unless you notice that they are young. In which case "um" is a good title to use to avoid making them feel old :D

Find out their title - call the admission office and ask. More than likely it will just be a "Ms." and that's how you should address her. But if it's a Dr...you don't want to make the mistake of calling her anything less.

Or when you meet them you say "my name is " they'll probably say "oh, I'm _"

whatever goes in that second blank is probably the best way to address them.

First name. College is for adults. Be one.

"Your majesty" if she's from an Ivy, "your highness" otherwise.

Fratastic, do you call your professors by their first names, then?

Dude!!!!!!!

Mom, you got me. I always address my teachers that way unconsciously, and some of the older ones pick up on it. The others are desensitized, or they like the youthful excitement of it, I guess

I wouldn't say to jump to first name unless they explicitly tell you to. Mr._____ or Ms.________ are the safest bets.

quote "First name. College is for adults. Be one"

Society has manners (although some have failed to read the book) - don't blow your interview by making a simple faux pas like this one. - Stick to their title unless instructed to do otherwise.

you don't really need to address them, do you? I had an interview with a Harvard alumni and I don't think I said her name once...but if the interviewer has a title, use it. some people get upset when they aren't called doctor, etc.

when you meet them you should say nice to meet you mr/mrs._________ so I think you need to say their name at least one.

Yeah I think I said "Hey Mr. ____! Great to finally meet you! big smile"

He was getting his mail as I pulled in so I had to shout a little. I think I mentioned his name when I left, too. I think calling him by his first name would have been a bit awkward (especially considering the age difference). Respect goes a long way these days.
