Yours that is.

Do you think about/reflect on it? Or is this considered a deviance?

Yours that is.

Do you think about/reflect on it? Or is this considered a deviance?

Do you have a plan?

I say, there's nothing to be feared in death. I take a very Dumbledoresque view.

"Death is but the next great adventure."

i believe that there should be no fear in death, i also accept death.

however i fear a PAINFUL DEATH

I do not fear Death. Death fears me. :)

i dont fear death itself. i mean, it's coming one way or another. I midly fear pain, but that too is unavoidable. what i really fear is dying leaving many things undone.

yeah morangotango great response. i actually do worry about things that i left undone and people's emotions due to my death.

I can't wait.

The question had nothing to do with fear.

I guess what Im trying to say:

When you hear a good joke, get an A in a hard course, or even find out you won the lottery, do you avoid thinking of the most inevitable fact in the human history in order to enjoy the moment?

Knowing you will die, but not knowing when nor where ('How' doesn't matter in this thread) and this place/time called life will end as you've had known it and you will be transfered to ____ ... how does all this infleuance your decisions, plans, and life in general?

Here is an anecdotal e.g. to be more clear:

Christians have the John 3:16 principle (with different inerpretations) but mainly, if you accept J as your savior ...etc, you will not die, despite how it's understood.

Different religions/ideaologies teach different ideas.

Aetheists make it simpler, but they're equally uncertain.

But most, if not all, seem to utilize a method of false thinking, which skimps over facts in such an unitelligent way.

Most people seem (to me at least) oblivious to death, and just live their lives as it will never end, and never invest a minimum effort, if any, to regard this matter seriously.

so, again: How do you cope with death?

Sorry for any typos. Im in hurry

I approach my mortality with the belief that it is not the end. As long as we are right with God, and free of mortal sin, we truly have nothing to fear. As Pope John Paul II proclaimed, "Be not afraid!" Rather, we should have much to look forward to.

When I die I will be nothing--my consciousness will be lost among the void. I fear not my own death, only the possibility for pain during the process and the potential suffering it will cause to those around me.

Well, that sounds like fun, gzhang. Good luck with all that.

Thanks, much appreciated =)

I chose not to think about death and to believe in a higher being. While many CCers will say that God does not exist, it makes me feel alot better thinking that there will be something more than rotting in the ground after ********ting my way through life for 70some years.

Hey, that'd be nice. It'd also be nice to believe that a fat dude dressed in red will jump down your chimney every December and give you free stuff. But hey, just because nobody on here believes in Santa Claus anymore doesn't mean that we shouldn't be good boys/girls. And just because some of us choose to be atheists doesn't mean that there is no point to our lives.

Ok, this is what I was afraid of.

guys guys Keep it's not about god or no-god, religion or none (though all this must be referred to during the discussion) but try to stay withing the subject of the thread plz plz.

read post #9 (mine) it trys to explain what Im tryin gto ask.

thnx

I'm not really qualified to answer, as I have not yet come up with a healthy way of dealing with death and of coming to terms with my own mortality, but it always helps to think about it as being just like before you were born. Recently, I've been thinking about it a lot for no apparent reason...at times when I should be really happy, the inevitability of my own mortality always finds its way into my mind...

Again, plz don't make it into a God-ful Vs. God-less stuff, alright.

Venkat89, thank you, what you stated describes the false-thinking-method I refered to earlier, Im sure someone who hs a formal background in phil./psyc. would have a technical term for this.

WE DON'T BELIEVE IN SOMTHING, BEACAUSE IT MAKES US FEEL BETTER. THIS IS SOOO UNHUMAN WAY OF THINKING (OR LACK THEREOF)

so this is regardless of what makes YOU or I feel 'better'.

I don't fear death because I'm pretty sure I'll be alive for the rest of my life.

Banzaiiiii
