How do you define personal statement?

<p>I'm working on NC State's application and it doesn't call for a direct essay, but rather a "personal statement"</p>

<p>"Please provide a personal statement about yourself so that we may better get to know you. This is your opportunity to tell us anything you think we should know about you as we consider your application for an admission decision. There is no required topic, format or length."</p>

<p>My question is, do you think its appropriate to use my Common App essay? I'm fairly proud of it and I've been told it really does sound just like me and tell a lot about me. Do you think this is a good idea, or should I write a separate personal statement?</p>

<p>If you really believe your common app essay is solid, I’d say go with that one.</p>
