Well... the NEW SAT is coming up soon, and I wanted to know how to do the 20 minute timed writes. I do not think im prepared for it! Well, I know practice makes perfect, but what techniques should I use to do a GREAT essay? Do I even write a thesis or conclusion? PLEASE... teach me how to do timed writes? THANKS.

Umm well..general outline:

Introduction paragraph-should be 2-3 sentences. Make some reference to the prompt/quote. Concisely assert whether you agree/disgree with prompt, or whatever it calls for. Don't try to straddle; that's just more work for yourself, and it's NOT a good idea for SAT essays (my English teacher actually said if you straddle, the highest you can get is a 4/6...correct me if I'm wrong about this?).

Then, present two controls (3 max, but I recommend 2), and devote one (lengthy) paragraph to each. Explain how they prove your assertion. Give tons of examples, from your daily life, from books you've read, the news, etc. Make sure to tie everything together.

You don't really even need a conclusion, unless you have a lot of time left. Make sure you don't just restate your thesis. Oh, and it is a good idea to use up all the room you get (2 sides).

Hope this helped.

Oh cool. That clears up alot... sounds like your good at this stuff... wat was your score on SAT Writing?

25 min, i believe
