I am generally a slow writer. I don't mean that ideas come slowly and that I take my time to say the right thing; I mean that my pen makes letters slowly. If I go too fast, my paper looks like a second grader wrote it. Even though I use the whole 25 minutes, I can barely get a little more than a page.

Usually, when approaching an SAT essay, I spend 2 mins intepreting the prompt and coming up with 3 relevant examples. Then, I write relentlessly until the time is up. When stuck in the middle of the essay, I write down "in other words", sth like that, and then my ideas flow again :D Hope this helps.

Isn't s little more than a page is enough? It says not how long u write is important but how well. so i didn't intend to write long. But is ma idea wrong guyz?

Oops, I'm sorry to have offered the advice above :">. Yeah, it was my fault that I just skimmed through Truthbetold's post and skipped the most important details.
(I was goin' to delete my post. But where's the "Edit" function? Ugh)
Thanks ccprofile to remind me ^^

Lol, seriously, though, I wrote about 6 or 7 essays as practice. I wrote the full 2 pages for every single one of them, and the first few I wrote until the very last second. I got progressively better, and on the actual SAT today, I wrote the whole 2 pages and had 5 minutes left...but I guess it depends on how fast I come up with the examples. I usually take about 2-3 minutes, formulate an outline, then write.

I'm here as a parent. I've always had this problem. I write about half as fast as the competition. I've never found a solution. That's why I checked this thread, and I'll be back, to see if anyone has any ideas.

But all in all, it's not such a bad thing. I learned to think quickly and organize my answers. I've done pretty well in school and career.

dude, look it's not college apps....these HS teachers r not here to get dazzled by SAT Essays...u gotta make sure it's organized, flowing, transitions, conclusion, intro..all that thing..w/ sum SAT words, strong verbs..here and there. strong examples. Tht's what they mean by "writing well".

I'd rather write full two pages..instead of one...
