How do you guys SURVIVE IT?

I love going onto the Ivy League's page and seeing all of these people taking 10 AP classes and getting 5's, then scoring a 35 on the ACT with a 2350s SAT, have about 10 EC's, AND on top of it, 100+ volunteer hours?

HOW? How did you guys DO THAT?
Do you guys even sleep? D:

…that is what I have been wondering. The valedictorian of my school went to Yale, and they were heavily involved with the school news/radio station, almost every drama production, academic teams, (pretty much everything except sports,) and took even MORE classes and study abroad over the summers. On top of all of that, he managed to be a National Merit Semi-Finalist, keep a 4.4 GPA, and somehow manage to sleep. I have no idea how he did it all.

amazing people on this site

it’s pretty inspiring even though i can’t live up to them

Lol. I plan to take about 10 AP classes the next two years. Then on my school’s brochure, it said (basically) “EXPECT 1-2 HOURS OF HOMEWORK DAILY”. and I just freaked. 5 hours. Plus my planned EC, Sleep, etc. And then studying for SATs & ACTs?

Brainache right there

Remember: the # of people that you described are very, very few in number.

Yeah what he said ^. The rest of the over achievers on here do all that but don’t sleep

LOL. I know right. To do what they are doing is NO SLEEP everyday!

Hopefully I’ll survive high school with just a 2200+ SAT, 32+ ACT, 9-10 AP classes, 50+ volunteer hours, 5+ EC.

YEAH HIGHLY UNLIKELY

Then I feel so pathetic when I see an international student get a 2300+ on their SATs…

-___-‘’

I know right. I read all of these “chance me’s” for the ivies and I’m like “Will I get in anywhere?” I’m a rising Junior and so far I need to definitely step it up if I have any chance. I took two APs last year, studied my butt off, and got 3’s -___- I’m scared to see what I’ll do on the PSAT/SAT. I’ve been studying for the PSAT all summer lol

I know!

Don’t you feel so (well for me) insecure? I mean for goodness sake why will a ivy league PICK ME, a 2100 over a 2300s? D:

:(

Yeah I definitely do. It seems like when I’m at school I’m a really good student but then I go on here and I feel kind of inferior to everyone else. Someone should come on here and give us the secret lol

Exactly how I thought!
Lol I’m seriously planning on asking them HOW DO THEY DO IT?
I mean COM’ON! Share the smartness! Dx

That is why I hate Chance Me threads.

I always feel like “-____- Wow, my EC’s will never be that close, FUAAAARKK”.

However, the fact is, those numbers are very low in percentage. Only a small percentage actually have those numbers in top 50 universities. Well, those stats might be average in Ivy League schools. However perfect application (EC and Academic/Test wise) is only a small percentage.

Small percentage is accepted to ivy leagues… Ugh. Reading those people’s chance me is like WOW HOW DID YOU DO IT?

I stopped reading chance threads lol. It made me feel really bad for admissions committees…

@moonman676
Agreed. That is one job I would not like to become. Imagine denying a student just because her SAT score isn’t 2100? I would feel so BAD! Dx

I lol’ed at “FUAAAARKK”.
@nothingto:That’s a little more comforting
But it sucks when the “Chance Me” is someone with a 4.0 GPA (unweighted), has 9 or 10 EC’s, and 300 hours of community service and they’re WORRIED. You’d think they’d be confident but it’s like: if they’re worried, how nervous should I be?
Of course I may be exaggerating a little but that’s what it seems like.

DUDE ^
Same boat as I am!

And then when they add that they are in another country, and their first language isn’t ENGLISH.

I am exactly like nothingto’s…

UGHHH

lol, I’ve tried telling this to my mom before and she’s like “You could get in anywhere! You’re so smart!” and I’m like “If only you had an account on College Confidential…”

You should tell her, “Mom, get a college confidential account and then we’ll discuss it” (nothing personal… lol I told my sister that)

but yeah… totally sucks seeing people worry about their 2350+ SAT scores…
