Hello everyone,

I am an international student who will be attending college this fall.
As an international student I had several doubts about everything. The biggest doubt I have right now is how do you pay your college, I do not mean where you are getting your sources to pay college but actually how do you pay it. Is there something like a bank account that the college provides you so you can deposit money? or do you pay it by credit card?
I know this question might be really stupid, but it is just something I would like to know since my parents and I are living in a latin American country.
Your answer will be really helpful for me.
Thank you in advance.

Northeastern’s payment instructions are here: <a href=“Payment Methods | Student Financial Services”>Payment Methods | Student Financial Services;

You can pay by wire transfer, credit card, check or money order. Check the fees and exchange rate you’d get from each mode of payment. I personally found wire transfer to be the most convenient, most secure and cheapest option to pay my tuition from a different country.

Credit cards and check might seem tempting at first but can turn out more expensive. Many colleges charge you an extra 2-3% if you pay by credit card because they’ll have to pay this transaction fee to the credit card company. Checks can get expensive if you need a check drawn on an American bank account.

If you are talking about how you get your bill from your school, it is different with every school but they are generally online. When you get your university mail account and ID number, you will be able to log into your online account.
Every university has their own “name” for their billing area. They will list the semester charges for tuition, fees, insurance, health, etc. (My older daughter’s housing and food bill is separately listed under another web area; younger daughter’s bill includes food and housing). Then you go through the pages and pay like what was suggested above.
