lol i’ve never heard wearing a suit to stay awake…interesting.

Poker tournament/other fun misc.

For school? No advice, I haven’t gotten less than 6 hours ever, and I usually get around 8-10 hours on weekdays and 12-14 on weekends.

Try not to make a situation where you have to stay up, unless it’s for fun.

Haha so as I predicted I’m up but I found out the most effective method is taking breaks then going on CC coffee didn’t work; loud techno music does though

Adrenaline/Motivation… Caffeine usually works too… and some rap music

splash your face with cold water every half hour
take 5-15 minute naps

After you’ve done it a few times you get used to it. I need no caffeine, no loud music, and I can usually work in my bed without any trouble.

But seeing as it was your first time and you weren’t used to it, everything helps. The motivation should be pretty big.

I don’t really agree with the short naps; I never want to get up again, even after the alarm goes off. What works for me is a 2 hour nap at say, 8pm. Then you work all night non-stop.

Rum raisin ice cream
And cranberry juice.

I got a c on it though

Sit up straight, suck in your stomach, have a bottle of ice water nearby, don’t work on your bed, and don’t let yourself even think about going to bed. (That means no changing into sweatpants, no brushing your teeth, no washing your face/showering, etc.) And don’t play games like “If I work for X minutes, I’ll go have a bowl of ice cream,” or “If I write X pages I can get on Facebook for 5 minutes.” You can’t do anything until you’re done.

I agree with Secret Asian Man. I usually take a nap right when I get home, around 3pm, and don’t wake up again until 7pm or 8pm. After that I have tons of energy and work all night.

In addition to what people have said, try talking to people on AIM for maybe 10 minutes in between periods of writing that you have set for yourself (maybe 3 paragraphs per 10 minutes?) It helps me understand that there is a reason to be doing that paper as well as keeping me sane. There is the possibility that you might over-chat your 10 minutes and therefore lengthen the amount of time spent on the all-nighter, but it’s worth it because you get better work done.

going on aim helps too. lol there’s always someone on to talk to
