Also, it’s true that science and math grads get higher-paying jobs more quickly, but I heard on an NPR program that arts grads are making teh same 10 years down the line. so yeah, arts grads are unemployed for longer but it doesn’t affect us forever.

But, I do really admire people who can do science and math, I could never do that. I do think it’s harder overall. But I’m at university to do what I like, and what I like is history and politics. I’m fine with having a lower-paying job for a bit to do what I like. :)

I’m going to have to disagree with most people in this post. I was pretty disappointed when I got here and I shouldn’t have been if I thought this through beforehand.

Think back to high school… remember those kids that were UCLA bound? Were they fun, outgoing and attractive?

Didn’t think so. But before I get flamed for this of course there are exceptions.

^ I have to disagree. I feel like its the other way around. There are a lot of fun and outgoing people here, with the exceptions that like to keep to themselves. I was very surprised how friendly people were when i came as freshman, and there are plenty of chill people at parties. Social life, just like anything else at UCLA (or college for the matter), is what you make of it. Lots of opportunities but no one is going to hold your hand.

As for attractive student body, the only UC that compares is Santa Barbra. But of course, everyone has different tastes

The way this is written, one could take this to imply that the sorority girl got a 95% because of certain non-academic related talents. As you say, “but such is life.”

I like rendezvous and north campus girls. I like the social life here. South campus girls are generally not attractive (with some exemption of those in premed)

I like going clubbing at hollywood.

I dislike having to go to my 9am south campus classes on Fridays hungover. I dislike how rendezvous close in weekends and after 12 am.

And I dislike the fact that its so easy to just hang out with my fellow Koreans. 90% of my friends here are Koreans and 10% is other Asians. ALL the Asians and especially Koreans know each other here. It’s so hard to meet other cultures because wherever I go to try new things, there are Asians I or my friends know that its just easy to hang out with them. And there are way too many Asian culture oriented clubs. If you are Asian, you might like this, but I feel like because all the Asians here are interconnected it’s hard to come out of this social bubble.

Come to UCLA for the scenery…if you know what I mean haha. lets face it, the general attractiveness of the student body is an important part of the college experience (high probability you will find a relationship here). no Berkeley goggles here :)

I HAVE had another college experience to compare with.

Here, the girls are hotter, the campus is prettier, the people are smarter, the professors are better, the food waaaay better, and the opportunities are way more plentiful.

“And I dislike the fact that its so easy to just hang out with my fellow Koreans. 90% of my friends here are Koreans and 10% is other Asians.
This is exactly what I’m afraid of. I want to have a diverse group of friends, as I have had in high school. I’m afraid that the large population of asians at UCLA. (I have nothing against asians, obviously, being asian myself)

its about 45% Asian to 32% white. way less diverse.

I consider my group of friends here diverse, and you’ll see that many people on campus have mixed groups. We’re a huge school with 25,000 undergraduates…chances are you’ll find a great group of friends to hang with.

OMG were on the same boat! This past month has not been a good one for the most part since I can’t decide between UCLA and Berk. I have visited both of them but i love them both and i love their differences. uugh!!
