How do you study for the ACT?

So is the ACT really similar to the SAT? if it is would that mean the time i'm spending studying for the SAT will also be beneficial for the ACT?

Also do you guys study by using an ACT study guide book or something?

I just do practice tests. Tons of 'em.

Yes, practice tests. And time yourself when you're doing them.

I agree that practice tests are the way to go. Sometimes you can just hit a weird stretch of questions that mess you up. My son is a very good science student, got messed up on some questions from a reading on one test, and only got a 33 on Science. A few months later, he took it again, felt the science section actually required more science knowledge, and got a 36 on science. I think you need to get used to how their questions work, and practice tests are the way to go.

what to do if you run out of the 3 real practice tests?

For one, do NOT, I repeat, do NOT buy McGraw-Hill's book. It is full of errors.

Anyways, Princeton Review's books are really good, and Kaplan's is kind of blah, but it's better than nothing.

When I studied for it, I studied one section at a time, so I could get to know each section individually. But practice practice practice is the best way to go.

i took it, did bad. got mcgraw-hill, 35 baby. nuff said. practice tests are the key, don't waste time and money on a class. the official prep book is also recommended.
