<p>How does Dartmouth know that i picked it on CommonApp? I haven't submitted anything yet. The school sent me an email today saying the typical thank you for being interested in Dartmouth stuff and selecting it on CommonApp. Does it mean that it can see every school that i'm applying to?</p>
<p>I got one of these too; it must mean that the Common App sends colleges lists of people who’ve added them to “My Colleges.”</p>
<p>But I’m sure this won’t help/hurt your app…it’s just an excuse to spam people. I’m not singling out Dartmouth–they have comparatively little spam :-)</p>
<p>^Indeed. I’m quite pleased at most of the Ivy schools which have refrained from sending the amount of spam that some other schools send. The incessant advertising done by those schools serves the opposite purpose of being a turn-off to prospective students.</p>
