I am currently a freshman. My school has added new graduation requirements for the class of 2021 and beyond. We now have to take a foreign language class every year and pass a proficiency test at the 4th year level in one foreign language and at the 2nd year level in another, one fine arts AND one CTE class, and a global perspectives class in senior year. Also, we are no longer allowed to take STEM classes online, though we must take an online class at some point. They keep changing our requirements. It’s so frustrating.
This year I am taking:
Pre-AP World History Honors (100)
Research Biology Honors (100)
Algebra 2/ Trigonometry Honors (99)
English 9 Honors (100)
Latin 3 (104)
Intro to Business and Marketing (100) (CTE class)
Health and PE 9 (100)
Next year I’m probably taking:
AP World History
Research Chemistry Honors
Mathematical Analysis Honors (Honors Pre-calculus with an introduction to calculus)
English 10 Honors
Latin 4 Honors
AP Biology
AP Music Theory (Fine Arts class)
Online Health and PE 10 and Driver’s Education over the summer (Online class)
Is this too rigorous? I have musical experience, so I’ll be fine in AP Music Theory. I want to major in biomedical engineering. This schedule will require about 25 hours of homework per week according to my county. I have time to do that, even with a 20 hour per week commitment to theatre.
Thanks for reading my post and for any advice you can give me!
