Just wondering for my D who is still waiting to hear on her L, S, & A app. She has an audition at the Music School in August and wants to dual enroll.

I'm wondering the same thing as well.

me too.........

What is the Honors College? Is it the same thing as the 'RC'? I saw something for the 'RC' on my application and I checked "yes" thinking that if I don't get into it, then I can still get into LSA.

Hi quiltguru,

The Honors College will send out an invitation after she receives her acceptance if they think that she has the stats (which are usually above a 1400 old SAT or a 30 or 32 ACT, which I think is the latter if the ACT is used, and a 3.8 Michigan GPA I think). However, if she doesn't receive a flat out invitation, she can petition for a spot in the Honors College. (If she petitions, that doesn't mean she'll get in though. They'll just re-review her application because when you apply to Michigan, you automatically apply to the Honors College as well.)

The Honors College is NOT the same thing as the RC.

I believe they call it the Honors Program as its not a separate college.
You're supposed to send an e-mail to some address I don't remember. Most people I know got an invitation to apply in the mail.

And you have to write an extra essay after you get accepted to regular LSA.

I got an invitation in the mail a week or two after I sent in my transcript/test scores/recs/etc.

I finished my online app about a month later.

Thanks. Sounds like with a 35 ACT and 3.9 UMich GPA she should have a chance, then.

The terms Honors Program and Honors College are used pretty interchangeably here. Just search the Michigan web site. You'll see the use of both terms.

Should I apply for RC? I'm not 100% sure of what it is, but I figured that I should at least try. To my understanding it sounds like a comprehensive program that focuses on the arts and sciences. If I get rejected from RC, does that mean I don't have a chance at LSA?

Check to see what it is before you decide whether or not to apply. When I personally looked into the details about it, I wasn't interested so I didn't apply for the program. However, others seem to love it so it really depends on who you are.
