Hi everyone. I was admitted last week to Michigan, and lots of people had asked me if I applied for Honors and I had not because I had applied to Ross and thought that somehow the two were mutually exclusive. Then, today I got an email inviting me to apply to LSA Honors, and meanwhile I still have no idea if I got into Ross.

So I guess I have a bunch of questions about this; they all might be really dumb, so forgive me. First: Do a lot of people get this Honors email...in other words, do I have a large chance of getting in because I was invited to apply, or not? And, when do I hear about Ross/should I have already heard from them? And are the two in fact not mutually exclusive?

Ha, sorry again for that barrage of questions. I'm just totally confused.

Just because you are invited to Honors doesn't mean that you have a great chance.Honors college only accepts 400 freshmen students every year. After you apply to LSA honors, they will ask you to write an essay. If your essay is good then they will accept you to Honors.

"After you apply to LSA honors, they will ask you to write an essay."

That is not true! I got accepted to Michigan in Dec of my senior year and 2 weeks later I got invited to the honors program. I didn't get the feeling that it was such an exclusive bunch considering like 3-4 kids from my HS got it.

i would say.. hold off on that esssay... i got in the regular program and i was going to write the essay to try for honors, but even without writing one they just offered me a place later.

if youre incredibly lazy like me...procrastinate on the essay~

Honors isn't a huge deal...all you need is a high score on the ACT. I didn't really think it was exclusive, but kinda looking at the 30-40 kids here from my high school, I can think of only 3-4 people that are/were in Honors. A lot of kids went to Engineering, but I don't think many of them would have been in Honors. The people I remember in Honors were like this: our valedictorian had 35, girl I live with had 34, I had 33, someone I'm not sure if she was in honors had 32.
