how does senior year GPA matter?

hey guys,

i am trying to submit my application as early as june 1st after my junior year, and i know all the interviews and secondary app. would come the first semester of my senior year.

so, is first semester of senior year supposed to be very busy? so a lighter courseload is preferred?

and med school admission wouldn't see my senior year GPA if i apply early right? will they see what classes i will be taking then?

so, senior year gpa doesn't really matter that much as far as med school app goes?

Thanks!

Med schools do see your senior year classes and grades. They request a final transcript before allowing you to matriculate. Obviously, your senior year grades will not be looked upon as closely as your previous years' grades but if you end up with a 1.9 GPA on 12 credits, then your acceptance will be rescinded.

Also, if you get on any waitlists (and you probably will), you will need to send updates to improve your standing. Great senior year grades would certainly be a good update to use.

1.) Secondaries should be done during the summer.

2.) June 8, not June 1.

3.) Yes, lighter courseload is better due to interview travelling.

4.) All schools will see what courses you anticipate taking. Any schools that accept you early would obviously not see any, but of course many schools do not make their decisions immediately, and so those that waited -- either intentionally or not -- would indeed see your semester 7 grades.

5.) Semester 8 grades would only matter in a situation where you were waitlisted or where they were really so abysmal that serious questions arose.

6.) However, waitlisting is actually very common.

alright, thanks a lot!!
