How does Stanford calculate GPA?

Can anyone previous Stanford students/parents or admissions officers clarify how Stanford calculates GPA for undergraduate admission?

I’ve seen that they only look at 10th, 11th, and 12th grades, that A+=A-=A…, and that they do it on a 4.0 unweighted scale.
So if I am calculating my unweighted GPA that they will see, would I be equivocating all my As as 4.0, Bs as 3.0 etc?

I’m interested because the 2020 Stanford Application Thread has nearly virtually everyone accepted claim to have a 4.0/4.0 or 3.9/4.0 …but claim they “had 3Bs on their transcript”.

Thanks!

You do not recalculate your GPA; you report the GPA that is listed on your transcript. Any college that want you to recalculate it (like UC’s) will tell you.

If a college wants to recalculate a GPA, they will do it behind the scenes.
