How does winning a pageant look?

Obviously when I participated in this, I didn't think of college admissions loll. but out of curiosity, is say winning "miss talent" and first runner up something worthy of writing if you won a state beauty pageant? I am also curious because I am filling out apps for some unique summer programs and I am wondering if this is something I should list or if it makes me look bad?

I have great grades (5.7 GPA out of 5 - rank #3 out of almost 530 people) and other great ecs with strong leadership roles and an internship experience last summer , so I am hoping that I defy the typical blonde/dumb pageant girl ( i am not even blonde loll)

Only if you provide a provocative pic.

I dunno how they would look at it. It’s certainly not detrimental or anything, but I don’t know if it will exactly help either.

I’d mention it, but not make a big deal.

A friend of mine was accepted to HYPS+some last year, and her major awards/ec’s were associated with winning beauty pageants.

I think its okay, as long as you stress the positive things associated with pageants like confidence and talent. Otherwise, they could get a wrong message.

I think most adcoms would realize that regardless of the stereotype, that it can be a highly competitive and intense event. (I don’t do it. Gosh, no. never…but I could imagine it being hard.)

Yes! winning a pageant is definitely something to be proud of and something to put on your college application. And of course, its even better if you have all the other academic stuff. Pagentry isnt all about beauty, right? There’s the talent part and the posture and the confidence and everything of going on stage! Its just like another award/achievement to put on your list. If I won a pageantry, Id be really proud of my title.

thanks! yeahh it was sorta nerve-recking, esp for the talent round but yeah glad to confirm that its something that could possibly benefit my app!
