how does your high school calculate your GPA?

how does your high school calculate your GPA?(both weighted and unweighted) is it a 4.0 scale???

AP +1
Honors +.5

weighted GPA is just calculated, but there isn't grade inflation... it's tough to get an A in an honors or AP class.

Ours won't calculate GPA for us, just a numerical GPA, which is somewhat similar at least. The weighting system is such: regular and honors classes are out of 100 and AP classes are out of 110. Which is BASSSSICALLY the same as saying +0.0 for reg and honors, +1.0 for AP.

A 90 is a 3.5 Need I continue?

School used to weight in which honors was x1.1 and AP x1.25, but now they don't weight anymore...

AP +.25, that's it, I hate it so much. almost all classes have honors options but you get nothing for it

it's unweighted, but if your applying to a college, the colleges look at your weighted grade.

This school bases it on Final Grades... -.-

I was wondering about this too because some people on cc have like 4.2 UW and I don't even know how that's possible.

some classes like AP's are weighted.

that's why "A B in AP is better than an A in regular" is very very true for us.

Honors and APs +1
Ironically, these "honors" and "AP" classes are ridiculously easy to attain A's in.

@elleway, are you saying my GPA is considered unweighted

What percentage grade is each number on the 4 point scale? I feel like this varies among schools?

To calculate unweighted GPA:
A = 90-100 4.0
B = 80-89 3.0
so on...

Add them all up divide by number of classes.. simple.

Weighted GPA:
Then, for how ever many semesters of honors courses, you times the sum of them x .02
(For example, if I took four year long honors courses, I'd do 8 x .02 = .16)

Then, the same thing but for AP is .04 per semester.
Lets say 4 AP courses, means 8 x .04 = .32

The system is good. I like it.

^
I would kill for that system.

A- is a 3.66, A is a 4.00, A+ is 4.33, etc.

Honors courses are weights as 1.05, and AP courses are weighted as 1.1.
