With all the "jigsaw puzzle" scheduling at Unifieds, I'm wondering how early things fill up. I've been really pressuring D to get these essays done so that we can submit the apps and get times scheduled but I'm wondering if I maybe I can ease up a little.

I'm just afraid that by the time she gets them in, all the appointments will be gone, or else she'll have other auditions scheduled for the only available times.

Of course she keeps telling me to stop worrying about it. She hasn't spent the past year watching the heartbreak and stress here at CC so she's relaxed. Which is a very good thing, I think. She really doesn't need any more stress in her life!

Can someone chime in who did this last year? Is mid-October too late to get things submitted and still have a choice of times?

I think mid-October might be fine for Chicago and California, but don’t know about New York. Do check each college’s site carefully, as some will let you apply for an audition time before completing the application. You really have to read the fine print! And remember that many this year require preaudition dvd’s to even get you invited to Unifieds!

I think you will be OK til mid-October also; the problem is that if you are trying to fit in a lot of auditions over the weekend, it really is like working a puzzle to fit them all in. The longer you wait, the less openings there are and the harder it is to fit your auditions in around each other. The earlier you can schedule auditions, the more chance of fitting everything in!

From our experience last year, i would say that you are best making appts anywhere that allows you to make them without having everything submitted…there are some that do!

We really didn’t have any problems getting what we wanted schedule-wise, for the most part…the two schools that i noticed had long “waitlists” of folks hoping to walk in were Penn State, and Texas State…

Although the pre-screen that has developed is probably a pain for most, i think it will definitely ease up the schedule for at least the schools that require them!!
