I applied to Penn State undecided and was accepted into the Department of Undergraduate Studies (DUS) late last year. The thing is, in the time since my application, I've realized that I do have a definite major of interest: bioengineering. I love PSU and am currently deciding between that and Purdue, where I was admitted into the engineering school. Because I got into the engineering school, I am leaning towards Purdue. However, if I can switch from the DUS into the College of Engineering relatively quickly in my freshman year, I may very well choose Penn State. So my question is, how long will it take me to switch into Engineering if I know that it is definitely what I want to do? And what do you guys think about the two schools I'm interested in?

If this question is so important that it will be a deciding factor in your choice of schools doesn’t it make sense to actually ask someone at that school, rather than relying on an anonymous board? I can’t tell you how many times I have read erroneous information stated as fact here.

If you were accepted into Purdue Engineering you probably had a good shot at Penn State Engineering. I would suggest you call admissions to see if you could be reevaluated for the college of Engineering. It is worth a shot.
