How easy is to rent close to ucsd?

How easy is to rent close to ucsd? what are average prices? any info will help. Thanks.

over $1000 per month for a studio apartment including utilities. you can check online

wow...hellokitty11, do you know url?

Just go on craigslist San Diego and search housing. I've got to find a place in August, and I'm seeing rooms for $500-650 a month.

Good luck!

here ya go:

http://www.apartments.com/partner/Results.aspx?page=results&state=ca&partner=commjunc&rgn8=3&area4=y&subarea4=y&prvpg=5&Rent_Minimum=0&Rent_Maximum=99999

the person above me is accurate if you are just looking to rent a room and share a bathroom. I don't think $500 alone will cover utilities though

Look into Casa verde towers and craigslist..you can share a room with someone for 300 a month or have your own bedroom for 400-700 a month...look into utc area and places that have shuttles to ucsd.

hellokitty11,

I never said that $500 would cover utilities. Nor should I include utilities in the cost of rent, unless they are included.

And the person above you has a name, you know.

it's getting harder to rent near ucsd as apartments are being converted into condos -- you'd expect about $700 to have your own room (ut's included) or $400-500 for sharing a room. That's in the area with free shuttles. In north Clairemont the housing is a bit cheaper. I hear you can get own room for $500 (ut's included). If you are really in a dump with money, then you can go live in Pacific beach where you can go as low as $350 for a room (with questionable quality tho?) or you can also stuff many more people into an expensive apartment which is what some students do.

they are building a whole set of luxury apartments a bit to the west (though i would not recommend living in those because of the sulfurous smell that permeates the air there sometimes during night, i think this local gov facility is to blame)

UCLAri-- most people here in San Diego like to count rent with utilities...thats why I am only familiar with cost of rent including utilities. and I didnt address your name because I wasn't talking to you. This isnt a social gathering. I was only trying to help tallinn77

hellokitty11,

It's still rude. It doesn't kill you to say, "UCLAri said..." "Social gathering" or not, there are common rules of etiquette that are nice to have followed.

Counting rent with utilities is an exercise in futility, since everyone's utilities are different. Someone who's barely home is going to spend considerably less on electricity than the person who spends all day in their room on the computer.

eh get over it, person above me.

lecorbeau,

Part of the reason why CC is so successful is the fact that it stresses a strong sense of community, netiquette, and following the rules. I tend to believe that we should uphold that.

And I bet that if I marginalized most other posters in the same way, they'd have had the same reaction.

^maybe it's just you, we're all different...i personally wouldn't be offended...cuz it's just the internet at least imo

Perhaps, but the point is she meant no harm by it.

And besides, do you really care that much? I mean asserting one's propriety over another is fine by me...but in an ONLINE COLLEGE FORUM?

Hey, I have no beef with you but honestly just do what most rational people do and ignore it.

I concur, infamy. I certainly found nothing rude about it.

And we, UCSD, do have a strong sense of community on here, in case you haven't noticed. I might even go so far as to assume that we're one of the most active/close-knit forums on CC. I think few would disagree.

NewSlang, I signed the papers.

we're getting married.

So because it's the Internet, we should just totally give up any sense of propriety? I don't think so. It's no different from talking about a person in front of them and saying, "Oh, well that thing over there..." Rude is rude is rude.

Maybe because I'm a bit older, and I grew into computers, I have an old-fashioned sense of propriety, but still...c'mon.

That's the point. It works because people give and demand respect. That's why CC, and in any case, this section of CC, work.

Maybe I'm overreacting. But I don't believe that we should give up our notions of dignity just because it's online. Like I said though, it may be my age.

I don't think she meant any disrespect at all. It's an online forum, we're all going by alternative names, and between most people, there's no sense of familiarity. So just chill.

"It's just the internet"

UCLAri,

Look on the bright side. You can fail our as**es next year! :)

I love what you're doing with your life. Courageous, really. I am a huge proponent of international experiences. Anyway, I don't want to digress, but congrats on knowing what life is really about.

Yeah, sitting at a desk every day and doing nothing is kinda courageous. Heheh.

Shush, stupidfambaloo. I'll never buy into the "only the Internet" belief. I just can't. I've seen too many people get riled up and really hurt to believe that.

That's like telling someone who is moved by good literature, "it's only words on a page." It can be so much more. And it was. hellokitty, and her expressionless face, little bow, and funny whiskers, has hurt me to the core. A pox on her house!

Okay, not really. But still. Like I said, I'm old and old-fashioned. I wouldn't do that to someone in real life, so I just apply it to teh Intarwebs.
