How effective is SAT score verification?

I recently received my SAT score and was appalled by my low math score. I got a 610 in math, 760 in reading, and 780 in writing. Normally, my best section is math. I compared my math answers with those of my friends after the test, and was sure I'd only gotten 1 wrong. On the contrary, I'd gotten 10-12 wrong! Math has always been my best subject and I plan on majoring in a math-related field. I took the PSAT in October and got a 770 in math. I also took Math IIC in January and got a perfect score (800). I'm also taking the AP Calculus BC test in May and have been getting 5s on practice tests.

I'm thinking about getting my score verified. Does anyone know if SAT score verification is effective? I don't want to waste $55.

My friends are telling me that I shouldn’t get my score verified. They say that the College Board won’t even bother scoring my MC again and will send me a letter saying that they hadn’t made any mistakes. Even if the College Board had made a mistake, they won’t admit it because admitting it would damage their reputation.

What should I do? I definitely did NOT get 10-12 math problems wrong, but my parents say that I was probably just careless.
