How effective is SAT score verification?

How effective is SAT score verification?
I recently received my SAT score and was appalled by my low math score. I got a 610 in math, 760 in reading, and 780 in writing. Normally, my best section is math. I compared my math answers with those of my friends after the test, and was sure I'd only gotten 1 wrong. On the contrary, I'd gotten 10-12 wrong! Math has always been my best subject and I plan on majoring in a math-related field. I took the PSAT in October and only got one problem wrong. I also took Math IIC in January and got a perfect score (800). I'm also taking the AP Calculus BC test in May and have been getting 5s on practice tests.

I'm thinking about getting my score verified. Does anyone know if SAT score verification is effective? I don't want to waste $55.

There scantron machines are super sensitive and are actually extremely accurate. I had a ton of stray marks on the march test and my score still came as expected(-1,780). Now, if you normally do score that highly, you probably butchered a section or skipped one on the answer sheet. In that case, I do not believe they provide a refund. Yet, if you do argue enough, maybe some accomodations may be made.

Score Verification works this way. If there is a reading error on your scantron, you will be totally refunded your money. This is because the chances of that happening are super slim.

Before making some definite decisions, look at the SAT march math thread with 43/54 of the right answers, and maybe you can get a more accurate resemblance of what you received:
