I filed my 2010 tax 2 days ago electronically.
I submitted FAFSA application choosing "already filed" option(didn't click 'LINK IRS'). Now, how FAFSA would be able to pull my tax return?. Can they? OR should i send the tax returns to FAFSA. Please advise.

If you have already completed your tax return, then selecting “already completed” or whatever it is…was the correct choice. Have you completed your taxes?

When you submitted your FAFSA YOU Put the tax info on the forms. If you hit “link IRS” the information from your tax form is spilled onto your FAFSA. It has NOTHING to do with sending tax forms to anyone.

Do not send your tax returns to the FAFSA folks. They do not want them. FAFSA only wants accurate 2010 tax info filled into the blanks on the FAFSA form.

NOW…you do need to check your colleges, however. Some schools DO require that signed, completed tax returns be sent as part of the financial aid application process. So do check the schools. Send them what they ask for (adhering to the deadlines) but do not send things they do NOT ask for.

Also, if you were selected for verification (that would have come up on your FAFSA when submitted), the COLLEGE(s) will decide whether to actually request verification information and they will tell you what to send…and where to send it.

Thanks thumper1 for detailed clarification.
Yes, I did file my taxes and chose ‘Already Filed’ option in FAFSA’

You can definitely try to ‘link’. I tried it a few times and every time FAFSA erred out. So, I ended up putting the numbers manually.
