How good are these for Penn? (SAT II)

How good are…

these SAT II scores?
a 760 on Math Level 2
a 770 on Biology - E
and a 750 on Chemistry

This is with a SAT I score of 2270 (800 R/ 700 M/ 770 W)

I know admissions officials look at more than just test scores…but in an of themselves, how are these scores?

Significantly above average

No, they're terrible and you'll never get in.

(PS: There are several threads about admissions statistics posted, and they are also posted on the Penn website)

Admissions statistics never outline SAT II scores, though...and that's what he's asking about.

Anyway, your scores are very good, even at Penn. You're definitely above average.

not to steal the thread but i also want to know if my SAT II's are fine
i know they look at 2 so my two highest were

780 Math IIC
730 Us History
and i hope they take into account my Act score (34) over my SAT I score (2010!)

already sent in app so.... im above average?

you bet...

I remember reading last year that the combined best two average SAT II score for students accepted to Penn was 720.

ooo. thats not as awesome as it could be

finally im above the average for something at penn lol

lol (10 char)

That'd be really great if that statistic were true

both of you took the Math Level 2 test and did well - is it hard though? Im a little nervous...

it's pretty easy. top 15 percent or so get an 800, and if you get 8 questinos wrong, you still get an 800.

ok sweet, my precal teacher was really good last year so i hope i do well
(700+)

i got a 690 on the math II, even though math has always been my best subject and i got a 100 last year in pre calc

now im nervous again, thanks

hey, paro that has always confused me, how ppl do so well in their school classes but cannot handle the sat II's..you got a 100, which is phenomenal, only one kid in my grade got close to a hundred(96) and he is, without a doubt, easily MIT, Princeton material....i got a b+/A- and was able to pull an 800 on math iic with no prep..the only sat i ever prepped for was US hist, and that only because I was studying for the ap us test.

i think there should be a more standardized CURRICULUm across the country to eliminate need for sat's, which a few ppl just can't do even if they're mad smart..it would give everyone somewhat of an equal opportunity.

Math II 780 1st and last attempts for chemistry and mathII
Chemistry 760
French(non-francophone) retake worse at 630,1st attempt 650

SATI 2300

i think u meant pyar, not paro. lol
but yeah, i agree with u shaqdaddy - standardized curriculums would be great if the country wasn't so econ/soc/cult/etc diverse. i mean, thats technically what IB (intl) and AP (natl) are for but still, only the exams for these are equivalent, not the methods of teaching or the enforced curriculum.

Looking at the statistics of some of the people who've gotten into Penn, your SATs are fine, but they don't guarantee you entry.
