I'm considering applying for the Dietrich College which is their humanities and social sciences college. I remember reading in a college guide that DC students are the ones with the lighter course load, have easier classes, etc. I dont want to be seen as that because I want a fairly challenging, top notch liberal arts program. My dad also said that CMU's liberal arts program isn't that great. Is this really true??

yeah i have the same question thanks for posting

when people say that HSS majors have lighter course loads, keep in mind it’s in retrospect to all the kids majoring in physics and engineering. BUT that being said, all i know for sure about traditional liberal arts at CMU is the fact that they…aren’t what the school’s known for. so i wouldn’t pick it as my top choice, unless i wanted to major in econ or psych.
