How good is Univerisy of Illinois Urbana Champaign engineering?

So I'm a highschool senior right now and have recently been accepted to uiuc for bioengineering. i realize its a relatively competitive major (not sure how competitive exactly, maybe some1 can explain :D), but it isnt ranked very high. I know that uiuc is ranked 5th for undergrad engineering, but how is everything else (student life, parties, girls, overall atmosphere, internship opporutnities, connections). I'm a cali resident and my top choice is berkeley (applied materials science engineering, hoping to do a joint major as a soph with bioengineering if i can get in). So if i get rejected from berkeley (please no :'(), then is uiuc really THAT much worse than cal? Also, if i can get in to uiuc bioengineering, how do my chances look at berkeley materials science and engineering :D? I'd love to hear from current students too! thanks!

In terms of Chemistry and chemistry related subjects, UIUC will definitely be several brackets below Berkeley. Not because UIUC chemistry is bad, just Berkeley chemistry is super good. However, for other engineering majors, UIUC will definitely be comparable to Berkeley, although I would have to say Berkeley has a definite edge. Honestly, the biggest difference you will feel is probably the weather…

Btw, I got accepted into UIUC too, but Berkeley is one of my dreams schools too, so gl to both of us!!!
