How good is University of Florida? and how good is its business school?

Hello, I’m a senior at high school who lives in Spokane, Washington (am originally from Seoul, South Korea) and an international applicant who just got accepted from UF last week. Also, my intended major is Accounting.
My GPA is 3.8 (Unweighted, my school is so small that we do not provide class rank nor weighted GPA), have 1850 on my SAT, have three AP credits, and got 104 on iBT TOEFL.

For a person who lives in the small town in Washington (I would consider Spokane as small town haha), I have no clue about the reputation that the business school of UF has besides it’s ranked on 47th on U.S. News ranking… I feel like people up in Washington only knows U of F as just a huge school with good NCAA div 1 sports teams (e.g. football and basketball) So… Can somebody explain me how good is business school at U of F?

For example, Washingtonians consider University of Washington (Seattle) is a good school because of not only its competitive admission standards and ranking on U.S. News, but also Foster school of business has really good international business program. Also, Washingtonians think Washington State University is bad because it’s well known as party school and very easy to get in.

If you’re looking at UF’s undergraduate business program, their Haevener School of Business (undergraduate) is ranked 28th overall for business and 16th among public institutions. Accounting is ranked #12, where you can pursue a 4 year BSAc degree. Looking at pure statistics alone, UF is a top contender for undergraduate business schools. There are some hooks to this degree, as if you’re aiming for a professional accounting career in the future, you should look into their 3/2 program for BSAc/MACC.
As far as global opportunities are concerned, Haevener words in conjunction with the UFIC to plan and prepare for international programs (e.g. study abroad, internships, etc.). Since you mentioned you’re from Seoul, it would be interesting to point out that UF’s business program works closely with the Korea University Business School to equip students with the opportunity to study a semester abroad there and acquire paid internship experiences.
Overall, how is their business program? I can’t tell you for sure since I’m not a current UF student. However, if I do end up going to UF, I will be in their undergraduate business program as well (finance), and so I hope to see you there! I’m a senior in high school as well

All the information I have up there was taken directly from UF’s webpage for undergraduate business school (http://warrington.ufl.edu/undergraduate/) so check that out if you have the time. Statistically, I would say the school is good and something to consider if you’re going into accounting. Student life in general at UF isn’t the greatest as we’re ranked as one of the biggest party schools in the nation with pretty bad dorms. However, that’s something you choose, and if you look for them, there are communities that are much more focused/determined that you could be a part of instead. A lot of my friends who go there who aren’t major partiers have found circles and really enjoy their experience at UF. If you’re seriously considering UF as an option, get plugged in with alumni/current students and get a feel for the school! Make sure you do your research on colleges; this is a big decision, and you want to make sure you’ve exhausted all possible resources to make the most well-rounded opinion you can about colleges.

UF always ranks fairly high on anyone’s ranking on Quality of Life. There is far more to do in Gainesville, than partying (though you do have that!). Weather is great, close to 1,000 clubs and student organizations, etc.

UF has one of the best Accounting programs in the country. It’s also a highly (nationally) recruited program, though it is rigorous.

Good Luck!
