How good of financial aid does UM-Ann Arbor give to out of state?

My SAT is a 1370, gpa 3.91, my school does not rank,

could i get in? second, how good of financial aid does this school give? becaause it is quite expensive for out of state, and for a little more than this price, i could go to a decent private school....

Neelish, if you already applied, your scores and grades are solid. You have a very decent chance of getting in. If you have not yet applied, it is getting late. I would say if you apply now, your chances are not that good.

As far as scholarships, I don't think you will be eligible. Michigan may be expensive, but it is worth it. Would you really pick a merely "decent" private school over Michigan if the cost were the same? I mean, Michigan is better than 99.99% of the private schools out there. I would say that only 5 universities are better than Michigan. Those are Harvard, MIT, Princeton, Stanford and Yale. Other than those schools, Michigan has not superiors.

Yesterday I received the great news that I've been accepted at UM in engineering (Yeah!!!). Now I'm looking into sources for grants and scholarships. A neighbor mentioned a scholarship from Ford available to students in or out-of-state. Does anyone know anything about this?

Alot of big name companies give scholarships to high-achieving students.

Congratulations flstudent! One thing you want to do is contact the University and ask them question directly. They may give you valuable answers. Companies also give out scholarships.
