How greatly does going to a prep school help your chances?

<p>I go to a rather rigorous prep school (10% HYP per class, nearly 40% in total to ivies, often ranked in the forbes top 20 list) and was wondering how much it truly helped when it came to applying to college. For example, does having a 4.0 at an exclusive prep school mean the same as having a 4.0 at your local public high school? Am I shooting myself in the foot by attending a harder school?</p>

<p>The title “prep school” itself barely matters. It doesn’t really help or hurt you. Remember that bunch of kids are from public schools.
However your school’s rigor will matter, depending on which colleges you are applying to.</p>
