I got 70s for the class, but then I got a 5 on the AP. Just read the whole Cliffs AP Bio a few nights before one-three times, and you should be set.

Sorry to hijack this thread but is AP Biology harder or easier than AP US History in terms of reading and memorizing?

Biology is easier. It's cohesive, and you can often tie in chapters with other ones to make more sense of what you're learning.

But who am I to say anything; I hate history classes.

I took AP Bio as a sophomore and I did fine. 5 on the AP test and 800 Bio E. As long as you do the work for the class, you're fine.

Well it's the only 5 I have out of my other APs(World History, Chem, Calc AB). And I only got a 700 on SAT Bio E.

I definitely liked APUSH a lot more, though I had a better teacher, a year long class vs. a semester class (AP Bio = the semester class), a love of history, and a burning hatred of anything related to organisms, especially plants!!!!!!

My AP Bio course was fairly difficult, with a lot of A students getting C's (a combination of the AP audit and a tough curve [we had two smart kids (me being one of them) who usually got real close scores and teachers usually curve to the second kid which didn't help at all in this case. LOL]. I had to cover all the ecology and anatomy stuff on my own time as the course was only a semester. If you like Bio., it really isn't too bad. (Still got a 5)

I got a 5!!!!

But I'm pretty good at bio

i really want to take ap biology in 9th grade so i can take ap chem 10th grade, ap psychics 11th grade and a psychology class in the 12th grade. im going to be a boarding school this september for 8th grade and will stay there through high school. how do i prove this year that i can handle ap biology in 9th grade?

I took the class as a sophomore as well. The teacher scared me into thinking it was going to be a hard class.

It wasn’t bad. There is a bit of memorizing.

I studied for the AP test for 2 months (1 hr on weekdays, 3 hrs on weekends) and managed a 5, even though my teacher barely taught ecology.

Not that bad. As long as you study somewhat, you should do fine.

Everyone in my brother’s school gets 5 for AP Biology. I think around 180 people take it each year.

So it doesn’t really seem that hard.

@082349

That number is extremely off. Try multiplying it by 1000.

@sparklyydancer

Ap Biology is not difficult, but it’s actually just a test of how well you can memorize terms and what they mean. it’s completely doable as a freshman; I would know because I took the AP Biology test as a freshman and got a 5. If you take the test, I would recommend you spend the day (or two days) before to re-cram everything (such as key terms, cycles, etc.) into your mind so you’d remember it for the test.

I would assume that 082349 means that 180 people from his brother’s school take it every year.

but from the given context he doesn’t state the school, but instead says “180 people take it every year”, so more people would assume that it’s 180 in total because of the lack of specifications.

I took this class as a sophomore this past year and I think I got a 5 on the AP Test . I had an amazing , interesting teacher , so that helped a lot ! But I studied my butt off for that test ; I even went into school an hour early everyday for three weeks to get extra prep from my teacher . But you should do fine as long as you know the terms and buy a Barron’s book

Oh gosh. I took that class last year.
It was reaaaaaally hard, but I managed a 5. Barron’s AP BIOLOGY is your Bible.

Very encyclopedic. Tons of memorization, TONS of reading - but I had a great teacher who gave very good lectures and tons of hands-on work, and I felt like I was prepared for the AP test. I used Cliff’s AP (which was AWESOME) and I recommend it for the Bio SAT II as well (I got a 750-M, which was okay, but then again I didn’t review after taking the AP exam either)

Yeah, apologies. 180 people from my brother’s school take it in a year and they get 5s. BUT their curriculum is extremely advanced.

Just take out Barron’s and read it about 3 weeks before hand, I had a horrid teacher so I only understood about half the stuff the first time I read it. But then I feel that I got a 5, just make sure NOT to read the Campbells textbook!!!

Why do you say to NOT read the Campbells textbook? I just got my books for next year and my AP Bio book is written by Campbell and Reece and it’s just called “Biology [Seventh Edition]”. Are you saying that the book is bad? D:

TMI in that book.
