I’m a freshman who is taking ap euro next year along with three honors classes. I was just wondering how hard is ap euro? I’ve been good at social studies my whole life. Social studies has always been my easiest subject for me but I’m wondering how hard ap euro will be though.
I took ap euro sophomore year as well, along with 3 other AP classes. I hated it, but I got a 5 and a 100 in the class so it guess it wasnt as harf as i thought. The DBQ are definitely one of the harder parts of the class, and writing is a big part of the class and test, so be prepared for that. The EURO test is less trivia and more document based (literally every question is based off a document), so yeah. There’s a lot to the class, but it depends on what type of student you are and your teacher/school on how hard to class is. Feel free to ask me any questions about it!
In our school it’s generally taken senior year. (Because NY requires 2 years of Global Studies and one of US History). My kid did not find it hard, but he loves history and had already done AP World as a sophomore. He found it helpful ta he actually knew a lot of history from his outside reading and even computer games he liked to play. To write a good DBQ you may want to bring in outside knowledge.
For example, the year my son took AP World the DBQ had something to do with the first Olympics. You needed to know something about what was going on at the time - internationalism, peace movements etc.
I did it last year as a sophomore and I found it pretty interesting! I kind of slacked off near the end and I think some people had trouble with AP Euro and the workload, but if you stay on top of it and study well, it’s not hard to get an A or 5! Just study!
