I am a civil engineering major at clemson university and I am thinking about focussing my major on more environmental engineering instead of civil. I would like to take chemistry 2 and maybe a intro survey of O chem. My question is how hard will chem 2 be when I remember very little from chem 1. I took it my freshman year at a community college. I really don't even remember nomenclature. Will this be a problem? Any good books or sites to review?

Thanks,
Jon C

One thing you will want to review from chem 1 is how to calculate molarity. This is used right off the bat when you cover solutions. One other thing to consider, review how to do a net ionic equation. This caught me by surprise while completing some lab reports. It’s not that hard, just be prepared.

All the rest of the stuff will be formulas you learn to compute half lives, temperature depression/elevation, etc. Not all that difficult, just algebra.

I’m taking the course now, and we’re covering acids/bases and buffers. So far the course isn’t dreadfully hard. I think you’ll be fine. Good luck!
