how hard is intl. student admissions?

Can anyone help me out? I absolutely LOVE UVA and everything about it and I'd really like to get in and do Foreign Affairs. But, I'll be an international student (im a sophomore). Therefore:

How hard is international student admissions?

Roughly speaking, what are the average stats for accepted students?

Do they place an emphasis on EC's

Thanks so much! I'll return the favor!

BTW: I will be doing IB

quite difficult. I applied for a sophomore transfer and I got waitlisted, even though my stats were higher than in state students.

UVA is a state school, so obviously they're gonna give privileges to instate students, even though they have a strong committment to "diversity"..so yeah. It's tough. But if you're super duper qualified (ivy league calibre) you should get in.

Well I'm international I guess since they consider Americans living abroad as international (I'm from the PHilippines but I'm a US citizen). I'd say I have very good stats, and I was ecstatic when I got my "likely letter." I love UVA!

Anyway, I think you have a well above average SAT score, strong ECs that you are passionate for, strong essays and recs, then you have a good shot of getting in. A lot of people say that the essays are quite important for UVA, so you should make sure to do well in those. Don't go for the generic, cliched type of essays.

I'm not sure what the acceptance rate is, but I think we're part of the out-of-state acceptance rate stats? I'm not so sure.

Good luck on UVA! Why don't you post your stats so we could "evaluate" you.

Give it a shot! As a sophomore you still have time to investigate different schools. Just remember that any part of your application to UVa can be "fatal" - make sure essays, recommendations, extracurriculars, grades, and SATs are good. Don't slack off on any part of the app. Good luck.
