How hard is it to add classes that are full?

I'm trying to get into a class but it's full. The capacity is like 120/120 and the WL is 25/25 or something. I checked the capacity of last quarter etc and they always end up with 30 empty spots. If I really want to add the class should I just attend the class and wait for people to drop? Is it that simple? What about the people on the WL? Will they be automatically inserted into a spot that opens up asap?

And what is this PTE number? Do I need it to enroll into a class even if there's spots open or something?

Thank you.

Attend class day 1, talk to professor after class and explain situation
Keep going to classes and checking URSA/Registrar like a hawk either for an opening
After week 2, all waitlists are dropped and study lists deemed “official”
A PTE number is a “permission to enroll” number. You will use this number if your professor is nice and willing to let anyone into the class (Litt and Klein in MGMT do this) on the waitlist or not. You will also need this number to enroll after week 2.

Oh thank you. so if the professor says yes, she basically hands me a PTE number to enroll in the class? If not, I just check for openings and enroll as soon as a spot opens up? However that is pointless after week 2 right? since I need a PTE number regardless of whether there’s open spots or not.

Same here. But my class is 100/100 with only 1 wait list spot, namely poli sci50, is it feasible to get in?

lumber have you spoken to the professor after class?

@Philosoup Poli sci 50 is on Tuesday, so not yet.

Try to ask for a PTE code after class. hope it works out for you

I get the PTE code, it is a slim chance, 9 out of maybe 40+, phew
